You have all freedom to (mis ;-) interpret my post any which way you want. I’m always glad if you (or someone else, for that matter) feels, say, inspired enough to comment, and it will always add a new perspective.

Well, now, let’s see when my teacher’ll come along…

I have had my fair share of the life-handing-nose-burns-thing too. I don’t quite believe in that kind of mechnisms though – I’d rather see that I myself reproduce a pattern, even when I’m not aware of it – and that will eventually have me fall on my nose, because I do what I usually do – one way or another. For me, becoming aware of these patterns have been the best “use” of time in therapy – having someone else, skilled and “unrelated” to myself, point out the patterns that make me repeat my same old mistakes. Having them pointed out doesn’t automatically mean I can just “do things differently” – but at least I know there’s a pattern, and can start steering slowly in an other direction. Usually THAT’s when I start thinking Life is “handing” me things – that’s when I start thinking of Jung and his synchronicities. I’m not sure who said it, but it’s an old saying – from some eastern teaching too, I believe – that when the student is ready, the teacher will appear. Well, we get ready by moving, ever so slightly, step by step from our patterns, we start making new choices – and then… along comes our teacher. A new opportunity, a new friend, a new idea, a new life goal or just a new boost of energy.

But it’s easy to get stuck thinking – I try my hardest, and look how Life treats me. OK – bad luck happens, it does. But often, if it happens repeatedly – there’s a pattern. And if we can make ourselves aware of the pattern, we can figure out how to snap out of it. Its not easy, but I think it’s the way to go.

Yada-yada-yada. Sorry for babbling your ears off like this – and I’m not even sure my babbling is relevant to you…! I might very well just be misinterpreting the whole post. In that case: Ooops. blush ;-)

But thanks for the Alan Watts reference – I hadn’t heard of him before!
